This song was covered by many popular artists over the years. One of the most famous was in 1968 when Cass Elliot sang it with The Mamas and the Papas. Her version reached number #94 on Billboard’s Hot Top 100 chart. Another version by Anita Harris would follow shortly afterward although that one was less successful and did not even reach the Top 40. Other artists who have recorded it include the Mills Brothers, Sylvie Vartan, Henry Mancini, Anne Murray, and Erasure. In addition, it was sung by the children’s entertainers Sharon, Lois & Bram and also by the Czech singer Lucie Bila as “Hvezdy jako hvezdy” (Stars like stars) which was the name of her 1998 album. In the US, it was recorded by Chicago on their album Night and Day Big Band and also by Korean composer and pianist Yiruma as part of his first classical crossover album First Love: Piano Collection. In addition, the song was sung by actress Zooey Deschanel at fashion designer Erin Fetherston’s 2007 show. It was also used as the theme for the 2010 Jude Law movie Repo Men.
